Blinking Cursor

Bob is frustrated. He is sitting at his writing desk, and staring at the blinking cursor on his blank Word Document. To this day he has zero complete works written. Not a Book, not a Short Story; not even a single complete Chapter.

Bob has committed dozens of page-ones, all very promising, over the years to paper. But he still manages to not take any of them onward to page two. Dozens of different stories, scores of different scenes and lots of very well written conversations – all going nowhere.

Bob hears one of his kids or his wife screaming down to him from upstairs. He is not sure who is screaming down to him because his music is blasting, and he does not want to be bothered. He yells back to upstairs with his loudest voice hoping to be heard over his blaringly loud music, “What!!!”.

As whoever is now shouting a response to him from upstairs that he cannot understand, Bob starts blinking in a rhythmic fit. And starts to curse out loud to himself in a muffled rhythmic loop. Blinking and cursing.

Bob returns his attention to how precisely synchronized his blinking cursor on his blank Word Document is to his song’s blasting beat.
